June 3, 2006
Graduation Day

As the sun beat down on 465 seniors that day, friends and family joined in the commencement exercises for the class of 2006. Our master of ceremony for this special event was Mr. Zhoydell Magaoay.

While waiting anxiously in the A building hallway next to the business office, many of us had the sudden thought hit us- "this is for real, i'm graduating..." Once everyone was seated, senior and talented vocalist, Kealani Tuioti sang the National Anthem & Hawai'i Pono'i.

We were then addressed by our fellow classmates: Crystal Lynn Acacio, Nikki Luong, Bao Yen Nguyen & Arlyn Ramos , our valedictorians. The speeches that were protrayed on Harry Potter styled scrolls of paper, were reminiscent of days past, friends met, teachers who cared so much about us, and memories cherished. Some speeches made us cry, laugh, and wish some of us knew what beautiful message was being said or sung, in Vietnamese.

Class of 2006 also went down in school history as the first class to spill over the $1,000,000 mark! Congratulations to all the scholarship recipients and scholarship donors! Make sure you're writing those "thank-you" cards like Mr. Kashiwamura said to.

With a smile on her face, class president BN Alafonso , addressed the class and congratulated us on our accomplishments.

Finally, we all felt real when we walked up to the stage, our name was read, and we recieved our diplomas (telling us to pick up the real one the following tuesday). Name readers were: Mrs. JoAnn Mastin, Ms. Sara Wakabayashi, Mr. Jeffrey Shitaoka, and Mr. Shannon Oide .

From then, we moved our tassels announcing ourselves as newly made alumni. We then sang our class song & alma mater, for what would possibly be the last time together as a class.
At the close of our ceremony, we walked to the front lawn to be greeted by family and friends with candy lei's.(yum!) Some of us went to Grad Nite and the others went to celebrate at home.
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2006! REMEMBER TO ALWAYS "Step Up!"

Farrington High School Alma Mater

To you, our own dear alma mater
We pledge our love and loyalty
And sing a tribute altogether
That all may hear our song to thee
So let us raise her royal banner
And it will hold victorious sway
Then mingle merry hearts and voices
In praise of Farrington!
